“The students here at Judge are helping us look through these photos,” Austin Green said. “They’re helping us identify what they see in the camera. And every single time they click ‘identify’ on their computer, they’re sending a data record to our data sheet and basically getting us one step closer to our goal.”
More than 307 million people visited national parks in 2015, according to statistics released by the NPS, breaking its previous record of 292.8 million set in 2014. If Zion National Park in Utah is any indication, attendance at the nation’s sixth most popular park is on pace to be at an all-time high again this year. The Bulldog Press visited the park to find out the impact that all of these visitors are having on this fragile ecosystem.
